10 Disappointing TV Serials Inspired By Bollywood Films That Made Us Go, ‘Akhir Kyun?’
Over the past decade, there’s been a dearth of original stories on Indian TV. Many shows tend to be inspired by successful Bollywood films. From Dil Se Dil Tak to Naamkaran, here’s a list of TV serials that were copies of Bollywood movies and rather bad ones.
1. Love You Zindagi inspired by Jab We Met

Can you ever imagine any other actress playing the iconic character, Geet from Jab We Met? We know the answer is a loud NO! Well, Splitsvilla fame, Pavitra Punia dared to copy Kareena Kapoor in Love U Zindagi which was loosely inspired by the Imtiaz Ali film. The serial grabbed attention for her chemistry with the male protagonist, Sidharth Shukla, but the show was nowhere close to the film.
2. Badho Bahu inspired by Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Prince Narula and Rytasha Rathore starrer serial was based on the film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha. In fact, not just the plot but the poster of this drama was also inspired by the movie where Prince carried his overweight wife Rytasha on his shoulders.
3. Dil Se Dil Tak inspired by Chori Chori Chupke Chupke

The Sidharth Shukla, Rashami Desai, and Jasmine Bhasin starrer was a copy of the 2001 film, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. The show was based on surrogacy and had the same plot. Just like the movie, the serial too got the concept of surrogacy wrong.
4. Do Hanson Ka Joda inspired by Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Shaleen Bhanot’s character and looks bore striking similarities to Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. However, Shaleen denied that the plot was the same. In all honesty, we haven’t watched the serial, but to go by the poster of the serial, it’s a clear giveaway that the serial is loosely inspired by the movie.

Prince Narula (born Braveen Narula; 24 November 1990) is an Indian model, actor and a singer. Predominantly known for his performance in reality shows, he has also acted in fiction serials. Narula has won the reality TV shows MTV Roadies 12 (2015), MTV Splitsvilla 8 (2015), Bigg Boss 9 (2015–2016) and Nach Baliye 9 (2019). He also appeared as the wrestler Lakhan "Lucky" Singh Ahlawat in Badho Bahu (2016–2018) and as Shahnawaz "Shaan" Ali in Naagin 3 (2018).
Personal life
Prince Narula was born as Braveen Narula on 24 November 1990. He hails from Chandigarh, India. He met Yuvika Chaudhary when he participated in Bigg Boss 9. They got married on 12 October 2018 in Mumbai. The couple welcomed their first child, a girl, on 19 October 2024 via IVF.
Career
Narula started off in 2014 by participating in PTC Punjabi's Mr. Punjab where he finished as the second runner up. In 2015, he participated in MTV India's Roadies X2 where he emerged as the winner. Next, he participated in Splitsvilla 8 where he was declared the winner. In October 2015, Narula participated in Colors TV's Bigg Boss 9 and emerged as the winner again, thus marking a hat-trick of back-to-back wins.
From 2016 to 2018, he portrayed Lakhan Singh Ahlawat in &TV's Badho Bahu. Since 2016, Narula has also been a Gang Leader in MTV Roadies.
