Off to a great start

MEXICO -- The 33 goals scored during the first week of the Clausura 2009 (3.6 goals a game) were received with awe and surprise, but above all with joy, for the fans saw some high level games.

The quality note was set by Mexico champion Toluca and Atlante, who delivered an unexpected 3-3 tie at Nemesio Díez. The day before, InterLiga champion Chivas and sub champion Cruz Azul starred in a duel of powers at Jalisco, which also ended in a 3-3 tie.

Without measuring the consequences, the Tuzos thrashed the Tigres at Pachuca (4-1), while 24 hours before Monterrey was proving they won't miss Ricardo la Volpe, with a 4-0 drubbing of Puebla.

And in Torreón, against all expectations, America beat Santos, once again with Cabañas as their savior.

The rest of the games completed the count of 33 goals, in high contrast with the 18 scored early in 2008 and the 28 scored six months later.

Fortunately for the teams with high expectations, this was just the beginning. On the other hand, for the teams in danger of relegation, the countdown has just begun.

    COMINGS AND GOINGS, AND MORE
They pulled an identical 3-3 score in a similar fashion. Toluca-Atlante and Chivas-Cruz Azul marked the difference with their ambition over the ball, which came and went relentlessly.

The four teams are very promising. As champions, the Diablos always make a presence, even though they don't always go forward.

But the Potros made it clear they have a lot to give with the same squad, featuring a more seasoned set of youngsters backed-up by Federico Vilar, who stopped a penalty in the closing minutes, and Místico Pereyra.

Chivas will almost always be there to seize great things, even though they missed two of their reinforcements: Aarón Galindo and Jared Borgetti. But Carlos Ochoa (two goals) and Sergio Amaury Ponce (one) have come into the red-white family with the right foot.

The Machine wants to return to the finals, and they have what it takes to get there. Jaime L

Hugo Sánchez exploded against the FMF for the leadership of the Tri: “They are indebted to me”

The uncertainty about what will happen to the technical direction of the Mexican National Team has aroused different criticisms and opinions. Despite the fact that so far GerardoTataMartino is still the coach of the Tri, rumors have already put him out of the team and put MiguelPiojoHerrera in his place.

Faced with this hypothetical scenario, Hugo Sánchez expressed his opinion and was upset with the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). During an ESPN program, the former Mexican footballer stated that Mexican football is indebted to him and to Victor Manuel Vucetich, current coach of Rayados.

The cause would be because they have always been left out of a world championship process with theTri despite the fact that they have had outstanding results as technical directors, and in the case of Macho, as a professional player he marked a legacy in the history of national football.

His comment emerged from the debate on the possible arrival of PiojoHerrera at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as Hugol said:

Although he expressed his concern about being at the helm of the Aztec team, he was aware of the unlikely chances he has due to the situation in which Tata Martino is and the relationship with the Mexican Federation, so he merely explained his difference with Femexfut.

Hugo Sánchez argued that the dealings with the FMF have not been adequate, both with him and with King Midas, while with Piojo Herrera there seems to be some support for returning to the Mexican National Team, according to the words of Pentapichichi.

“Obviously they are also indebted to Vucetich because the deal has been too bad for him as for me. On the other hand, Miguel feels protected, supported and consented. Let's see what happens, but the Tata thing doesn't seem to be on the right track.”
