Biography

THOMAS ANDERS was born on 1 March 1963 and is one of the few German stars who has made both a national and international impact on music history. During his immensely successful run with Modern Talking, he had countless chart hits, which made him famous in almost every corner of the earth.

“You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul” alone reached No.1 in 81 countries. Worldwide CD sales of Modern Talking and of Thomas Anders’ solo works have now topped the 125 million mark.

Thomas Anders has received more than 420 gold and platinum records and numerous awards for his artistic achievements, including the “Bambi”, the “Goldene Europa”, the “Goldene Kamera”, the “ECHO”, the “World Music Award”, the Golden and Silver “Bravo-Otto”, the “Golden Lion” from Radio Luxembourg and many more.

Despite his triumphant success, Thomas Anders is constantly looking for a new challenge. As a serious and professional entertainer he does not stand still.

The worldwide success he enjoyed with Modern Talking was followed by the release of many solo albums in Germany and abroad. His most recent solo pop album “STRONG” sold over 1.000.000 copies in Russia alone and immediately went platinum.

In his most spectacular music video “Stay With Me”, a solo track from his album “STRONG”, he performed in the role of James Bond in true 007-style.

In 2011 he joined musical forces with Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen, who has successfully produced and composed some of the top hits of famous German singer NENA. Their album “Two” shot to number 11 in the album charts and for a brief period the “Gentleman of Music” musically transformed himself into a “Gigolo.”

After releasing more than 25 albums, Thomas Anders fulfilled his long-standing dream to record his first Christmas album in the style of an American Songbook. Just like its architect, “Christmas for You” was a multi-faceted kaleidoscope. New, yet traditional and international yet private, this was a work that reflected the very essence of th

Władysław Albert Anders (11 August 1892 – 12 May 1970) was a Polish military officer and politician, and prominent member of the Polish government-in-exile in London.

Born in Krośniewice-Błonie, then part of the Russian Empire, he served in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I and later joined the Polish Land Forces after Poland regained its independence in 1918.

During World War II, Anders was captured by Soviet forces and imprisoned, but he was later released to form a Polish Army to fight against the Germans alongside the Red Army. He led the Polish II Corps throughout the Italian Campaign, including the capture of Monte Cassino.

After the war, Anders was deprived of his citizenship and military rank by the Soviet-installed communist government of Poland. He remained in Britain, working for the Polish Government in Exile and various charities. In 1989, after the collapse of communist rule in Poland, his citizenship and military rank were posthumously reinstated.

    Biography

    Before World War II

Anders was born on 11 August 1892 to his father Albert Anders and mother Elizabeth (maiden name Tauchert) in the village of Krośniewice–Błonie, 96 kilometres (60 mi) west of Warsaw, in what was then a part of the Russian Empire. Musical artist

Bernd Weidung (born 1 March 1963), known by his stage name Thomas Anders, is a German singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as the vocalist of the pop duo Modern Talking.

Starting his singing career while still in school, Anders unsuccessfully attempted to establish himself as a Schlager artist for several years. After forming the Eurodisco duo Modern Talking with Dieter Bohlen in 1983, they became a worldwide sensation with their hit "You're My Heart, You're My Soul". They followed up with a string of other hits, namely "You Can Win If You Want", "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)", "Geronimo's Cadillac", and "Jet Airliner", before dissolving in 1987. In 1998, they reunited and produced several new songs such as "You Are Not Alone", "Sexy, Sexy Lover", "No Face, No Name, No Number", "Ready for the Victory", and "TV Makes the Superstar", before dissolving again in 2003. Their controversial break-ups led to several lawsuits and heavy coverage from the German tabloid press. During their two stints together, the duo sold 120 million records worldwide and received numerous sales certifications around the globe.

After the two break-ups of Modern Talking, Anders performed as a solo artist during the 1990s and after 2003. During the first Modern Talking split, he released six studio albums, none of which managed to chart, whereas some singles such as "Love of My Own" achieved mediocre success. Only his Spanish language album Barcos de Cristal (1994) proved successful in Argentina, where its eponymous title track climbed to number 1. Following the second break-up, Anders started a more successful solo career, with his album This Time (2004) reaching number 14 in Germany and producing number 1 hits in Russia and Turkey. Summary
Anders Celsius was a Swedish astronomer, physicist and mathematician. He participated in Maupertuis' expedition to measure a degree of latitude in Lapland. He is best known for the temperature scale that he proposed and which is named after him.

    Biography

Anders Celsius's grandfather was Anders Spole (1630-1699) an astronomer born in Barnarp, Sweden, who had studied in Uppsala. In his youth, Spole travelled through Europe, meeting many important astronomers, and later became Professor of Astronomy at the University of Lund. There, he constructed an observatory in his house and made frequent visits to Tycho Brahe in Hven. Because of this, Spole was well informed of the scientific state of Europe. He sided with Giovanni Domenico Cassini on his and Isaac Newton's argument about the shape of the Earth. Spole left Lund after the Danish invasion of southern Sweden in 1676, which caused the University of Lund to dissolve. He chose to participate in the war and, possibly as a reward, in 1679 he was offered the position of professor of astronomy at the University of Uppsala.

One of Spole's students in Uppsala was Nils Celsius (1658-1724), the son of Magnus Celsius (1621-1679) who was professor of mathematics at Uppsala between 1668 and 1679. Under Spole, Nils wrote the dissertation De Principiis Astronomicis PropiisⓉ(1679), in which he stated that only empirical observations, and not theological doctrine, were the pillars of astronomy. Since Uppsala was the ecclesiastical centre of Sweden and it had not yet accepted heliocentrism, this went against the consensus at the University and caused the dissertation to be banned. This refusal of the latest astronomical ideas explains, in part, the lack of proper astronomical instruments in the University of Uppsala at the beginning of the 18th century. Spole tried to remedy this by building an astronomical obse
