The album second “Midnight calling” was released 5th November 2012. The tracks on this album are original compositions written and performed by Swing Republic and additional musicians. Produced and mixed by Per Ebdrup. Co-produced and Co-mixed by Jakob Sejer-Nielsen.

The third album “Let’s Misbehave” follows the vibe from the first album, with old samples combined with electronic elements.

Swing Republic combines the spirituality and emotional expressions from the past with the electronic technology of the future. Open-mindedness of the hippie culture and hypnotic rhythms of industry. Swing Republic (initially a side-project of successful Danish songwriter and producer, Per Ebdrup) are one of the original pioneers of the Electro Swing sound. Their first album Electro Swing Republic was released in 2011 when the genre was a barely-defined movement in club nights across Europe. It was one of the first full-length Electro Swing artist albums (as opposed to a compilation) and became an instant cult classic notching up silver disc status and achieving (to date) over 8 million Spotify streams.

The second album Midnight Calling (2013) saw the introduction of fellow Dane, jazz vocalist, Karina Kappel and took a more song-based approach to the genre steering away from the samples of the first album. It also included the swing cover of Crazy In Love (a much-imitated version of the Beyonce tune) that has since notched up over 6 million plays on Spotify alone, achieved even higher numbers on YouTube and inspired the version that appeared in the film The Great Gatsby.

Swing Republic continued this success with a string of singles and EP’s The Ballroom EP (2011), Crazy in Love Remixes (2012), The Return Of… (2014), a further album melding the style of both the first two albums Mo’ Electro Swing Republic – Let’s Misbehave (2015), and the recent EP’s Musicians (2017), Long Legs (2018) and Back In Time (2018).

This new Best Of compilation selects highlights from all of these including material that was until now available only on CD. The last eight years have seen Swing Republic produce music that strikes a resonant balance between contemporary electronic and vintage swing; and this has been key to their huge popularity. They remain one of the artists that has come to define the contemporary sound of swing.

Swedish avant-garde metal band

Diablo Swing Orchestra, also shortened DSO, is a Swedishavant-garde metal band formed in 2003. They are known for having an eclectic sound, which fuses swing music with symphonic metal and progressive rock, among other genres. They have released five albums: The Butcher's Ballroom (2006), Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious (2009), Pandora's Piñata (2012), Pacifisticuffs (2017), and Swagger & Stroll Down the Rabbit Hole (2021).

Diablo Swing Orchestra is known for its eclectic sound, mixing numerous influences, most prominently from heavy metal, rock, swing, progressive, and classical, although various other influences are frequently mentioned by critics. The line-up features several instrumentalists uncommon for rock or metal bands, such as a cellist, a trumpeter, and a trombonist, while their albums often prominently feature string and brass sections.

History

Debut and The Butcher's Ballroom (2006–2009)

The band was created in 2003 as a sextet. The original line-up consisted of singer Lisa Hansson, guitarists Daniel Håkansson and Pontus Mantefors, bass guitarist Anders "Andy" Johansson, cellist Johannes Bergion, and drummer Andreas Halvardsson. They released their first EP, Borderline Hymns, in 2003; two years later, Hansson left the band, and was replaced by AnnLouice Lögdlund.

With Lögdlund, the band released their first album, The Butcher's Ballroom, in 2006. During recording, the band realized that some parts did not fit Lögdlund's voice; as such, Håkansson became the band's co-lead singer, with Mantefors also occasionally
