His son Sacha, a film editor, told the outlet that Szwarc died of respiratory failure at Central Hospital in Loches, France.

Actress Jane Seymour, who played the role of Elise McKenna in Somewhere in Time, paid tribute to Szwarc as a “true visionary.”
